NEW FORECASTWATCH REPORT: Analysis of 2024 One-to-Five Day Out Forecasts
Our amazing analysts at ForecastWatch examined 15 different weather forecast providers plus persistence to provide a holistic analysis of weather forecast performance for global forecasts and forecasts in Europe made one-to-five days in advance for 2024. This report analyzed five weather forecasting metrics from each provider including 24-hour high temperature, 24-hour low temperature, probability of precipitation, text precipitation, and icon precipitation.

Record Humidity in July for 18 States
July 2025 was one for the record books. Eighteen states in the central and eastern United States and Washington D.C. just experienced their most humid July since records began in 1981. An additional eight states experienced their second or third muggiest July on record. For the country as a whole, the United States just saw its third-highest humidity levels on record.

Using Medical Technology to Improve Weather Forecasting
Chinese researchers led by Congqi Cao from Northwestern Polytechnical University have developed a new artificial intelligence system that can generate a five-day weather forecast within seconds using medical technology. The team discovered that AI models originally designed to identify tumors and analyze brain scans excel at recognizing weather patterns across regions.
