Subscribe to the ClimateWatch newsletter!
Earlier this year, our parent company Intellovations LLC launched a newsletter called ClimateWatch!
The goal is to bring you the week's most pressing climate issues, impacts, trends and forecasts, groundbreaking innovations, and actionable tips in our weekly newsletter dedicated to keeping you up-to-date on climate information. In the future, the plan is to include in-depth analyses from our experts in the newsletter.
Check out the newsletters from November:
FEMA to Consider Climate Change When Rebuilding
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is overhauling its disaster rules in an attempt to end the cycle of rebuilding in areas that are unsafe. In the past when an event like a hurricane damages an area, FEMA would help rebuild communities and try to help them be more resilient than before the storm.
Following a new executive order, FEMA will be required to factor in climate change on future flood risks when it decides where and how to rebuild. Ideally, this will result in higher-elevated and better-fortified buildings, which would hopefully help break the continuous cycle of destruction and reconstruction that we’ve seen in the past which costs billions of dollars.

NWS Changes Winter Weather Headlines
The National Weather Service (NWS) made changes to its winter weather watch, warning, and advisory products as part of its hazard simplification project. The official Service Change Notification was released on March 26, 2024 and the revisions went into effect on October 1, 2024.
The changes aim to clarify that cold can be dangerous with or without wind, addressing a common misconception that extreme cold is only tied to colder temperatures when there is wind. Dangerously cold weather can accompany or follow wintry precipitation, but is often overshadowed by the precipitation.
